Chill Checkers Win Inaugural Columbus Chill Heritage Cup Championship

The Columbus Chill Hockey Club proudly announces that the Chill Checkers have captured the first-ever Columbus Chill Heritage Cup Championship, defeating the Chill Union Soldiers in a thrilling 3–2 victory on Sunday at Chiller North.

Led by Coach David Gnas, the Checkers showcased teamwork, resilience, and strong defensive play throughout the playoff weekend. In the semifinals, the Checkers shut out the Chill Bobcats 3–0 to advance to the championship game. On the other side of the bracket, the Union Soldiers pulled off a dramatic 6–5 upset over the top-seeded Chill Buckeyes to earn their place in the finals.

The inaugural Heritage Cup featured four competitive 16U In Town Chill teams.  The Buckeyes, Bobcats, Checkers, and Union Soldiers battled throughout the preseason in a 6 game round-robin format leading into playoff weekend. Every game delivered high energy and tight competition, highlighting the growth and depth of the Chill program.

“The Heritage Cup was a great showcase of how far our players have come this preseason,” said a club representative. “It was fun, competitive hockey from start to finish, and we’re proud of all the teams for making it such a success.”

The Columbus Chill Hockey Club congratulates all the players and coaches on a memorable first Heritage Cup and looks forward to continuing the tradition next season.
