DETROIT, MI — The Columbus Chill 16U National Team delivered another incredible performance this past weekend, capturing the CCM 200x85 Detroit Motown Tournament Championship in the highly competitive 16U Jetspeed Division. With 18 elite teams competing, the Chill outlasted them all to earn their third tournament title of the fall season.

The Chill opened round robin play with a tight 3–2 loss to the Mid-State Mustangs, before bouncing back with an emphatic 8–0 victory over the PHA Icemen. They closed out pool play strong, defeating the Clarence Mustangs 4–1 to advance to the playoffs with momentum.

In the quarterfinals, the Chill faced Clarence once again and skated to another solid 4–2 win to move on. The semifinal matchup featured a showdown against the #4-ranked St. Louis Sting, where the Chill battled to an electric 2–1 overtime victory.

Rhett Hall tied the game late in regulation, and Jack Goodwin buried the overtime winner to send the Chill to the championship game.

The final set up a rematch with the Mid-State Mustangs, and this time the Chill left no doubt — controlling the play from start to finish in a 3–1 victory to secure the Motown Tournament Championship.

MVP honors went to goaltender Leander Shearer, who was outstanding between the pipes all weekend, providing steady, clutch performances that fueled the team’s championship run.

This marks the third championship of the fall for the 16U National team, highlighting their consistency, resilience, and championship mindset.

The team now turns its attention to the Mid-Am Ohio State Championship next weekend at Gilmore Academy, looking to close out an already outstanding fall season on a high note.
