Chill National 16U and 18U Teams Win 2025 National Bound Kickoff Tournament
The fall hockey season couldn’t have started any stronger for the Columbus Chill Hockey Club, as both the Chill National 16U and 18U teams claimed championship titles at the 2025 Pre-Season National Bound Kickoff Tournament in Columbus, finishing the weekend with perfect 5-0 records.
The 18U squad delivered a dominant performance from start to finish, earning victories over Cincinnati Pre/Post, Sylvania North Stars Pre/Post, the Cleveland Crusaders (twice), and the IYHAA Hoosiers. In the championship rematch against the Crusaders, the Chill shut the door with a commanding 5-0 win. Across five games, the 18U team racked up 35 goals while allowing just one, showcasing both offensive depth and defensive discipline.
Not to be outdone, the 16U National team impressed with a strong two-way game of their own. The Chill defeated the Toledo Mobsters, IYHAA Hoosiers, Plymouth Flyers Black, and PHA Iceman before facing the Cleveland Crusaders in a tightly contested final. With a complete team effort, the Chill earned a 2-0 shutout win to take the title. The 16U group totaled 32 goals scored and surrendered only 2 goals the entire tournament.
With both teams off to a red-hot start, the focus now shifts to the CCM 200x85 Hungry Howie’s Preseason Tournament, taking place September 5–7 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Chill 16U National team heads in as the defending 2024 champions and looks to repeat, while the 18U squad aims to continue its early-season momentum against top national competition.
